Fundraiser!

So every year I participate in the 'Revlon walk for Women's Cancer' here in Los Angeles.  I have 2 legs and an amazing life.  Time to round up the troops and WALK to raise money for cancer research. I had to motivate the troops at the office and get everyone to help raise money... and drag their booties out of bed on time.

The amazing thing was that this event was the same evening 'Pretty Hurts' originally premiered on LOGOtv.  Looking back on that day it was one that was filled with amazing effort on the part of everyone at the office.  We are all incredibly busy at our jobs and were also preparing to have our lives splashed across national TV-  but we came together as a group and really worked to make a difference.

I hope that you have a charity or two that you you support.  It's amazing to help others out and it's good for the world.  Teach your kids to give often and expect nothing in return; set this example for you children and others that are around you.

I'm back and ready to BLOG

Ok my lovely humans ... I am well rested after a nice trip to Burning Man.  I had a fantastic time with all my friends.  My longtime friends from Alaska and Colorado were able to make it and that made the vacation even more amazing!

One minor problem ... my phone was stolen while I was at the hair salon right before I left for my trip.  I am sad to say that someone actually stole it.  I hope that the Karma monster bites you in the ass!  So that being said, I am also sad to say that there were a bunch of 'Pretty Hurts' photos on there.  Even a video of the Tappin' Twins doing their thing!  Arrgggg... and so we must move on.  Really it was just a phone.

On to the fun stuff!  We are eagerly waiting to see if we get picked up for a second season.  If you have not already, please write into :

Episode 5 "Pretty Hurts" Time Hurts - dedicated to Rand Rusher ....

So this episode was a HANDFUL ... more specifically let me say the fight in the lobby between that pushy lady and the aussie guy was uncalled for. We don't take walk-in's at our office and that lady was so ...  #@%&%^*%$^%#**>  (insert what ever you like here)

You catch most of her pushy attitude on the episode ... what you don't catch is when that Aussie guy ("I wanna look like a shiny man doll") starts picking on her.  He actually called her names ... things that were not very nice.  I can't believe that they didn't show that on TV. Maybe they couldn't - I did have to scold them like children. It was very weird. Any way - Rand, if you are reading this ... I can't believe that you actually injected that walk in patient!  Next time - the gate keeper will keep the animals in the zoo in their separate cages!

Then of course we move onto Vivicca - who is hysterical and funny but again Rand if you are reading this ... poke them 1st and then talk! I am spending what I feel is like 25% of my life click-clacking my heels outside your door to get you moving!

Any ways - we also got to see Pam. The housewife with AMAZING jewelry.  We've know Pam for years and she is just so much fun. She is beautiful inside and out.  Maybe a little bit of it is Rand's help - but he keeps her in check.  Just like he said to her "You don't always need the things you want."

Rand is pretty smart ... that quote can be translated to a lot of thing in life.

"You don't always need the things you want."

Try telling that to the panicking actress I talked to on the phone on Friday...

Ok so I'm a little behind ....

Ok so when I was a kid I was a procrastinator when it came to things I should do for myself.  So ... It should not surprise you that I am behind on my blog, and that I am going to blog about something super "Hollywood" instead of the show today!  I'll come back to the show soon ... but for now. Red Carpet time!


So the cast of 'Pretty Hurts' was asked to attend this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G event on the Paramount lot.  It was the 6th annual "Life Out Loud" event to raise funds for Lifeworks.  This party is billed as "Pride Season's Hottest Party" ... AND it supports the LGBT Youth of Los Angeles.  


So we get to the event and right away as we are walking up I hear someone chanting my name "Elizabeth!... Elizabeth!" I look up and Ahhhhhh it's the red carpet coordinator - My new best friend!  The red carpet was amazing and I only stumbled a wee bit; not in the literal sense ... really just tripping over my own tongue.  

Mix and Mingle at a celeb-filled, cocktail party with music, food, and a silent auction at Hollywood’s famed Paramount Studios NYC Streets. So there was mixing and mingling ... I guess I am maybe a mini-celeb?  Even if I'm not - I tried to dress like one!  Do you LOVE the dress?  Dolce & Gabanna honey! The flying nuns said I had a fantastic body .. who doesn't love it when the people dressed up to entertain love you!   At the event they were honoring 2 extraordinary young people for their positive impact  - Mike C. Manning, Real World D.C. and Human Rights Activist - Zach Wahls, The Youtube Phenom who addressed the Iowa State Legislature in support of his 2 moms and Gay Marriage Here I am with Korbin and Mike Manning! He was so amazing and his mom was also there to see him accept this award.   She was front and center and so proud and emotional.  I love supportive parents!   From there we tooled around bidding on amazing silent auction items, noshing and drinking.  I didn't win any of the items I bid on.  Always outbid!  We headed over to the Lexus photo booth ... what do you think of this photo?  Looks like a Lexus ad doesn't it? After enjoying the lexus photobooth and the Lexus Lounge, We took part in the Barbie Collector Experience (gooo Red Head Barbie!), and enjoyed a special performance by Cortés Alexander (Liza at the Palace, The Tonics). I must say that Cortez is an amazing singer and person! He was so sweet to come down and talk and take a photo with me!  It was all in all an amazing evening.  I am so happy to be there representing 'Pretty Hurts' but more important lending support for the Lifeworks program! LifeWorks is a youth development and mentoring program at the LA Gay & Lesbian Center in Los Angeles. They offer one on one, peer, and group mentoring opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth ages 12-24. Our goal is to help LGBTQ youth to realize their goals and dreams with a safe space, positive and affirming role models, and workshops & activities that are fun and educational. "Pretty Hurts" Episode 4: Rand and Curt went to Canada ... I stayed home!

Did you catch the Episode this Saturday?  I know it was a Holiday Weekend ... so maybe you need to still watch us on your DVR... or perhaps you need a little rest and relaxation time and catch a re-run on the LOGO website. For those tech-savvy people you can also buy us on iTunes!  Did you know that?

Anyway - this episode was all about Rand and Curt's adventure to pimp their wares at The Shopping Channel in Canada.  I think it was one of the best episodes so far. What do you think, Eh? The thing I love the most is that this episode really shows some of Rand's quirks.  :)  And also how much Curt expects Rand to do!

The really funny thing was that this episode also had a 2nd story to it. While Rand and Curt were out of town, I went to Rand's house to dog-sit his pooches. I know the main story was super funny, but the part where I watch the dogs turned into ... sigh....stupidness! Maya and Joy came over to Rand's and -girls will be girls- we stayed up watching Rand on tv. I am not going to give away anything .... I hope to convince them to give me some outtakes!!!!

"Pretty Hurts" Episode 3 - Curt is not really a revolving door...

...at least that's what I tell myself!  This episode was fun but also kind of heartfelt. Rand is one of the most amazing people that I have in my life and he deserves the best partner on the planet.  I mean this seriously.  Is that creepy? 

After shooting this episode and having Rand go on a bunch of blind dates (that's right my Prettys, we shot a bunch of dates that Rand went on), it is clear that Rand is just doing what he wants; spending time on his office and friends and NOT STRESSING about trying to find love. When you stress about things, chances are that they really don't work as well as you want them too.

Am I right dear readers?

Anyways - we actually shot Rand going on 4 dates. We all rounded up dates for Rand- I think he wanted to kill us though. One of his dates actually started to get REALLY personal ***puts fingers in ears LALALALALALA*** they started to talk about sexual things I really don't want to know about my boss! We also had a really hot hottie that Maya found - shame they chose to cut out that one. Fact is that Curt actually had met that one at the gym and had been eying that pretty boy for a long time. We would have had to move to a 1-hour format in order to include that whole story!

So "my friends" (as Maya would say), hope you have enjoyed Episode 3. I'm going to try and do an entry about my aerial talent this week; show you all some neat photos and such of my wacky obsession.

"Pretty Hurts" Episode 2 - Birthdays Hurt. Part 1: Janice!

Wasn't Episode 2 of Pretty Hurts even better than episode 1?

Sooooo much fun!  Raven came to the office ... She was just about the funniest lady in and out of a wig!  Maybe some day you will catch the B-roll where Raven EMBARRASSES the daylights out of out Polish Princess Maya! I have never seen Maya clam up so quickly after Raven commented on her weekend activities :O

And of course there is the lovely and wacky Janice Dickenson. That gal is a riot and a half! Rand did such a great job on her injections ... helped to soften and plump her up! Check out a few of our behind the scenes photos below.

Here I am with Janice! Since this is a Reality Show we never know who is actually walking through the door. She was super excited to be seeing Rand and obviously really liked what he did. We love making people happy! 

Here is another picture with Korbin from our office! You haven't met Korbin formally in any of the episodes .... but you see him there!  He's at both Rand's birthday and the book signing. Keep your eyes peeled for Korbin!

Here Janice is getting her make-up touched up by the amazing Cynthia Roman. She is a fantastic make-up artist that Pretty Hurts work with. She did my make-up for the NewNowNext awards!  Look at my earlier blog if you haven't seen my hot photos yet!

"Pretty Hurts" Episode 1: Mr Fix it

Did you enjoy the premiere of 'Pretty Hurts'?  Are you ready to get a little sneak peek behind-the-scenes? Every week I will post some behind-the-scene photos and commentary about the episode that has just aired!

Episode 1 - "Mr Fix It"

Well, the title of this one really did come from that article in W Magazine.  Rand was voted Beverly Hills' "Mr. Fix It". Rand enjoys helping people look and feel better about themselves.

Our first day of shooting, we really didn't know what to expect.  This is from my notes about the 1st day:

"It's our first day here and I am nervous!  Not really sure what to expect today.  But I know that everything is going to be great - I'm doing my job! How hard can that be? Very excited! We aren't actors - we are a real "work family."  We've know each other for over 5 years and I can say that I am happy to be here on this adventure with some of the people I care about the most."


Wow - thinking back to that first day is amazing!  We all reported for our call time ... some of us on time and some of us not so much!  You, my dear Prettys, will soon enough find out who was not on time! As I walked into the office I had been in for years, I never realized HOW big the production for TV it is!  People everywhere crammed in our office; at least 25 crew in all. They set themselves up to be out of the way of our daily life as much as possible.

It was amazing that Jeana Keough was one of the patients we saw that first day!  I love the 'Real Housewives of Orange County' and was so happy to see both Jeana and her daughter coming in together. It's always great to see women come and support each other in these types of situations; regardless if they are mothers and daughters, sisters or friends. Women, you should support your friends who may want a little freezer or filler. Don't be hatin'!

So I hope to have some fun photos and videos to share throughout; I have a few photos from the shooting of the opening sequence; here's the one from the opening sequence where you are looking down Rodeo Drive: this was shot on Via Rodeo very early in the morning.

You can see the 2 gals on the bench from the opening sequence talking to Gary Auerbach - Executive Producer and head of Go Go Luckey Productions.  Rand is in the background awaiting direction from Gary.

Here, Gary is either doing a walrus impression or he is telling Rand to smile a bit more!

Hello Hello my Prettys!

Here I am at the #NNNAward Spectacular!

I must say we were more than thrilled when part of the cast of 'Pretty Hurts' was invited to LOGO's 4th Annual New Now Next Awards!  It was a day of fun, glamor, and virgin red carpet experiences!

Here is my photo diary of the evening ... have fun following us!

We started off with a fantastic toast to 'Pretty Hurts', to work and to friendship! A shot of Gran Patron Platinum! We were dolled up ... we drank up ... we were out the door as the car arrived to pick us up for the show!

Rand up in front of course ... me (bitch in the middle!) with Curt and Tom. The car ride over was quick ... butterflies in our tummys as we rounded the corner and pulled up to the Avalon Hotel in Hollywood!

Woah ... Why I thought there would just be a few people there to take our photos shows that I am somewhat new to this. There were TONS of cameras! Everyone wanting us to turn their way and to talk to them!  (Shoulder back ... don't trip ... smile ... don't let boobs pop out; need to save that for season 3- whew!)

 We did several interviews - I'll post a few of those as we go along over the next few days! How fun!

The boys with Tabitha Coffey ... She won 'Most Addictive Reality Star!'  Let's cross our fingers that next year one of the Cast of PH will be one of the nominees!

Ok Pretty People ...

Lots going on here in AestheticsLand.  We are busier than ever at the office.  Seeing some of Hollywood's beautiful and most scandalous!  Rand looked at me the other day and said "I could retire on what I was just told."  Ahhhhhh but as always our lips are sealed! I'll keep your secrets if you keep mine ...

Earlier in the week Rand and I got invited to one of the coolest looking events in a long time.  It was the opening of the Vivienne Westwood store in West Hollywood. The store is beautiful ... her clothing is wacky, unique. I love it! Celebs all around ... no red carpet for us yet.  That was saved for the likes of Mischa Barton, Marilyn Manson, and of course Dame Westwood herself. I have included a few photos for my Sister. I know she checks my blog :) (Hi Penny!)





I wish Rand and I had been able to sneak out of the office early to get into some costumesque (ok so that's not a word -but it describes the Vivienne Westwood style!) Outfits and parade about.  For those of you that know me, I love me ANY chance to dress up in a costume!

New Now Next Awards!

Hurray! The "New Now Next" Awards are coming up!  Some of the 'Pretty Hurts' cast has been asked to attend and take photos on the red carpet!

So excited to be invited ...I must say .... I'm a red carpet VIRGIN!! Ok so now that I have aired my dirty secret, the age old question is ... what to wear?!

I must send out a GIANT thank you to a fantastic friend of ours that is dressing both Rand and myself for the awards show. Jessica has been an angel to us both.

What ARE we wearing you ask?  Rand ... He's going to be in this amazing suit. I should have been paying a bit more attention,  but that's all I know.  For once I was thinking about ME!
I will be in a super amazing Badgley Mishka dress ... It is short, beautiful and shows off my "Bangin' Bikini Bod" (as Kathy Griffith would say.)  I am going to get my hair done by Phil Ackerman. Phil is the best. I sent him a photo of my dress so I am excited to see what style he thinks will look best.  I'm super excited to get there and see who else is attending.

OMG ... Can I be silly and say I'd really like to meet Raja from RuPaul's Drag Race.  I see celebs all day and I'm excited about meeting a reality Drag Queen - LOVE IT!!!!

L.A. Marathon- and it was Pouring!

First of all I want to send out an amazing heartfelt, bear hug, warm fuzzy .... to all those who ran the L.A. Marathon. It takes a person with a dream and drive to be able to run a marathon. For those of you not in L.A. ..... IT WAS A RAINING CATS AND DOGS AND GERBILS AND BEAVERS!  Where's my ark?  It was WET!


Now I must say that Marathon running is not my thing. I am sure there are many many people who have run the L.A. Marathon and other Marathons before.... but to those running it for the first time - I salute you!  That takes a lot!  It's gotta be harder than stilt walking!

So Team to End AIDS has 'cheerleaders ' set up along the West Hollywood run route to cheer on runners as they make the 26-mile journey from downtown L.A. to the ocean.  This year I was proud to support the runners with my fellow Stilt Circus members. 


My first text message to my fellow stilt members this morning read "Looks Rainy?"  Jen's reply was "Supposed to rain this afternoon."  So we decided to pack it up and head on down!  I had worked so hard on my cute runner stilt outfit that I really was excited to be there.  We packed the car and noticed it's starting to sprinkle a bit.  We took the back roads through the Hollywood Hills (way to go with the mappage Rob!) and park near the Mile 15 marker for the race.


The discussion begins ... should we go up on stilts?  Jen reply's .... "I need an umbrella" and I'm in agreement.  We hop into the (very conveniently located) store and bought over-priced umbrellas.   Umbrellas in hand ... We decide to carefully put on our stilts and give it a try.  Hmmm... I'm getting wetter by the moment ... this umbrella is terribly small ... OH there goes a runner!  And another and another! Pretty soon we are up there cheering and making people smile.


I have never been on my stilts in the rain.  It was pouring.  It was soaking everyone to the skin but we were all there TOGETHER!  I am happy to have taken this new adventure with all of those who dared to do something that in my mind is the ultimate challenge!

So all of the Pretty People we see here in the office seem to be just as excited as us about the launch of the 'Pretty Hurts' show! (That's May 9th on the LOGO for those of you who are behind the times!)

OK, so I am wearing my sunglasses inside ... but I wanted to show you the shirts right away!  They are those sexy burnout type of shirts and the "Pretty Hurts" and "Ouch" are in copper glitter!

This could only Happen in LA....

I'm driving home up Highland Ave in Hollywood at 630pm on a Tuesday. Traffic is really heavy.  In one spot traffic is having to scoot around this black sports car.  Stupid people with stalled cars should use their hazard lights!   Stalled there smack in the middle lane on busy Highland. *sigh*  As I drive by I look over and realize the lights are on and I can see a the shadow of... a man's head resting against the head rest ... Mouth agape. 

Yikes! So I whip around the block. As I pull next to the still-sitting car and whip on my hazards. As I do another chick pulls up too. She saw the same thing. So I dial 911 and promptly get put on hold.

While we are holding our breaths. We are banging on the car and yelling. No response ... For the 1st 3 min....

Then FINALLY. Dude wakes up. Dazed he rolls down the window and STINKS like pot. He is dazed and eyes are blodshot. Mother toker is stoned, passed out while stuck in traffic.

A nice tow truck driver comes by now to assist us 2 cute ladies standing in traffic. At which point in time stoner gets on his phone .... ON HIS PHONE!!!

and says " I'm late and I gotta go" and drives off.

Tow truck guy follows him for at least a half mile.

911 does not pick up during this whole episode!

 

 

 

Yesterday was National Pancake Day!

I was sitting at the office yesterday seeing patients and doing office things. Curt called to talk to me about a meeting or something for Rand.  At the end of our conversation he says "Happy National Pancake Day!"  We both giggled about it for a few (this includes me asking Curt if he is sitting at his new office ... IHOP).

Rand comes out after seeing one of the cutest patients (EVER I must say)

I proclaim "It's National Pancake Day!"

Rand replies "Well then I guess we are having pancakes for lunch!"

Mmmmmm!  What a fantastic idea!  We scoot down to the Brighton Cafe. I've never had their pancakes before!  They are just the most delish thing on the planet today! Is it because it is their day to shine? Are pancakes across the world making themselves extra tasty so we can appreciate them more on National Pancake Day?  Making us long for them when we are having one of our silly "No Carb" stints as it is closer to Summer.

To make this day even sillier ... We proceeded to get pancakes-to-go and took them back to the office for everyone!

Ha ... Since I do Circus ... i even know a guy who juggles pancakes!

So here is one last HURRAY for the pancake ... until next year.

Here we are! A little treat!  A sneak peek of 'Pretty Hurts'.

Filming the 1st season has been a blast.  We met all sorts of fantastic people (Hi Kitty! Hi Mikey!) and you get a real look at what goes on behind closed doors at a Beverly Hills beauty clinic.  A-List Injector Rand Rusher R.N. lets cameras follow him into the treatment rooms.  You get an insight into the world of beauty and Botox.  Who doesn't get treated, who does, and who ... does too much!

The most wonderful cookies EVER!

Ok ...

So NO you can't have any!
NO you can't buy them anywhere!

One of our fantastic clients is not a chef ... nor a professional baker ... nor a caterer.  She is a cookie FAIRY, she makes chocolate chip cookies TO DIE FOR!  There is fighting in the office!  We hoard them! I sneak some out of Rand's bag ... even though I have a bag of my own.  (Please don't tell!)  She only makes them for special people a few times a year!

I freeze them right when I get them home.  For an extra special treat I take one out and microwave it for 7 seconds. It's like they just came out of the oven.  One time, Craig, not realizing how much of a specialty item they were (and how much a cookie monster Craig is) ate more than his share of the PRECIOUS!!    I had to explain to him, as if i was trying to get a child to understand, These are special cookies.

MMMMmmmm ... Cookies!
